About the University
Fulda University of Applied Sciences, also known as Hochschule Fulda, is a public university of applied sciences located in the city of Fulda, Hesse, Germany. Founded in 1974, it has grown to become one of the largest universities in Hesse with over 9,700 students, including approximately 1,400 international students from over 100 countries.
The University's campus is located in the heart of Fulda, a historic city renowned for its baroque architecture and cultural heritage. Despite its urban setting, the campus offers a close-knit community atmosphere, with short distances between facilities and close personal contact between students and staff. The city's central location and excellent transport links make it an ideal base for exploring the rest of Germany.
Fulda University of Applied Sciences offers a wide range of study programmes in eight academic departments covering areas such as engineering, technology, computer science, business, law, nutrition, health, society and culture. The university prides itself on its hands-on approach, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience through close links with regional organisations and businesses. Unique programmes include Nutrition, Food and Consumer Sciences, International Health Sciences and Renewable Energy. The university has a strong international focus, with a growing number of programmes taught partially or entirely in English. These include three international bachelor's programmes and five master's programmes, such as International Business & Management, Global Software Development and Human Rights in Politics, Law and Society.
Fulda University is committed to supporting its students and offers a range of preparatory programmes, language courses and cultural orientation programmes for international students. The university also offers students the opportunity to participate in research projects and pursue doctoral degrees in selected disciplines, making it the first university of applied sciences in Germany to award doctoral degrees.
