Course Description
The B.A. in Indology/South Asian Studies at the University of Tübingen provides comprehensive knowledge of the diverse cultures, religions, societies, and philosophies of South Asia. Students immerse themselves in the history and present of this fascinating world region, learning to critically analyze its complexities and dynamics. A special focus on working with original sources enables them to gain authentic insights and develop a nuanced understanding of contemporary political, social, and economic developments. The program equips graduates to reflect on and contribute to South Asia’s growing global significance.

The program is designed for those interested in India and South Asia who wish to gain a deep understanding of its cultures, languages, and societies. Good English skills are essential, as much of the subject literature is in English.
Special Program Features
Flexible Subject Combinations
Students can freely combine major and minor—such as history, economics, literary studies, social and cultural anthropology, or the study of religion—tailoring their studies to their academic interests.
