Course Description
The minor in Mongolian comprises three language modules (Mongolian I-III). The practice- and application-oriented language training starts from the first semester, focusing on modern Mongolian (Khalkha). Students gain skills in listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and intercultural communication. From the third semester, classical script is also taught. All courses emphasize using language acquisition tools and working with contrastive examples. Early in their studies, students achieve oral and written proficiency in familiar topics, enabling them to navigate a Mongolian-speaking environment.
The Institute for Oriental and Asian Studies ensures a balanced approach between pragmatic-communicative competence and linguistic fundamentals. Students develop culturally sensitive, communicative, and media competencies, allowing them to understand phenomena and dynamics of the Mongolian cultural sphere and relate them to interdisciplinary topics.
This subject must be combined with another major.
