Course Description
The bachelor's degree program in North American Studies explores the complex literature and cultures of North America, i.e. the United States of America and Canada. Students are offered an active and interdisciplinary learning environment that builds on the latest academic research. The study program focuses on the multifaceted interculturality of the countries studied and includes transnational and interdisciplinary perspectives. Students thus receive a comprehensive education in American and Canadian studies, with literary, cultural, and media studies being dealt with in a North American context.
The course is designed as an introduction to American studies and thus offers an introduction to literary and cultural studies. Students are introduced to the basics of the methods and approaches of literary and cultural theory as well as an introduction to analysis and interpretation.
The course can be taken as a combined bachelor's degree as a major or minor subject.
*All events, including assignments and exams, are held in English.
