Study Music - Teacher Education Academic Secondary Education [Gymnasium] in Leipzig (2026/27)

Studying music to become a high school teacher means combining your own passion for music with the desire to nurture young people artistically and personally. As a music teacher, you open the door to a world that goes far beyond simply reading music: you make music together as a class, conduct choirs and ensembles, analyze works from Bach to hip-hop, and discuss the social significance of music in different cultures and eras. Like no other subject, music promotes creativity, emotional expression, and social skills—abilities that are often neglected in the hectic school day. The program itself is challenging and varied: in addition to the main instrument and singing, the curriculum includes music theory, ear training, conducting, music history, and music education.
