Proof of knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, or Tamil within the scope of a four-semester course of study at a domestic or foreign university, for which a standard period of study of at least three academic years is stipulated. Or proof of otherwise acquired language skills at an equivalent language level. In case of doubt, the Admissions Committee can have a placement test carried out. Exempted from providing English tests as proof are the applicants whose mother tongue is English or whose bachelor's degree was obtained from a university in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as well as the British overseas territories, the USA, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guam, Guernsey, Guyana, the Isle of Man, Jersey, Nauru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent, and the Grenadines. Knowledge of German is highly desirable. It can be acquired during the course.
