Requirements
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in African Verbal and Visual Arts (Languages, Literature, Media, and Art) or Afrikanische Sprachen, Literaturen und Kunst from the University of Bayreuth.
Applications may already be submitted before completion of the bachelor's degree; however, a total of at least 150 credits and a minimum grade of "good" are required by the time of applicatiοn.
Grade point average of 2.5 or better (according to the German grading scalе).
Language Requirements
The following certificates are recognized as proof of your language proficiency.
Specification: Pass or better.
Specification: At least C.
Specification: At least B.
Specification: To be proven by the end of the second semester at the latest.

Application Documents
- Curriculum vitae.
- Enter the favored field of specialization (Afr. Linguistics/Afr. Literatures/Arts, Curational St. & Media in Africa/Swahili Studies/Multidiscipl. Studies).
- Grade conversion using the Bavarian Formula.
- English language certificate (see language requirements).
- German language certificate (see language requirements). It can be obtained during the first year of the program.
- Secondary school leaving certificate including subjects and grades (e.g. Abitur, High School Diploma, A-Levels, or equivalent): original language + certified translation in German or English*.
- Transcript of records of the bachelor (or for comparable degree) including subjects and grades - at least 150 ECTS points with a final grade corresponding to "2,5" or better on the German grading system: original language + certified translation in German or English*.
- The grading scale of the bachelor with the maximum grade and minimum final grade required to be awarded the degree – not for passing individual courses: original language + certified translation in German or English*.
- Written presentation of course-specific competencies: motivation letter.
*Certified translation in German or English: only required if the document was not issued in German or Εnglish.
