Requirements
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor‘s degrees with 210 CP (7 semesters) qualify for the 3-semester program version. Applicants with a 180 CP (6 semesters) bachelor‘s degree must apply for the 4-semester version.
The 3-semester course can only be started in the summer semester.
The 4-semester course starts in the winter and summer semesters. It includes an additional industrial placement semester with 30 CP, which is completed in the 1st or 3rd semester, or, alternatively, a study abroad semester in a related field with a scope of 30 CP.

Application Documents
Application with a German bachelor degree:
- Completed and signed application form.
- Secondary school leaving certificate.
- Complete certificate of university studies.
- English language certificate (see language requirements).
- Curriculum vitae in English.
- References (if applicable).
- Motivation statement in English (2 standard pages, 2300 characters per page including spaces). It should include your previous background from your bachelor study and academic performance, your experience with the subject area, and your specific interest in the program.
- Project proposal in English (3-5 standard pages, 2300 characters per page including spaces). It must aim for a substantial and original body of artistic and scientific work on a significant topic. In your proposal, you should indicate the specific field and genre of artistic practice as well as related technological and academic subjects you are interested in.
- Digital portfolio with 3-5 artistic work samples. It must consist of 3-5 projects related to the field of animation and game direction. This can be for example:
- games or game prototypes,
- animated shorts, series or other fictional or non-fictional animation formats,
- live-action short films, series or other fictional and non-fictional narrative formats,
- performing arts projects such as theatre productions or performance art,
- visual development, art direction, and concept development projects,
- VR, AR, and XR productions.
Application with an international bachelor degree:
Create your application form and submit it to uni-assist online. Once this is completed, please upload all requested documents on the uni-assist online platform.
- High school/secondary school leaving certificate.
- Depending on your country of origin, a certificate proving that you have passed the University Entrance Examination.
- Complete certificate on university studies (bachelor's degree certificate with the transcript of records including grading system and diploma supplement).
- English language certificate (see language requirements).
- Copy of your passport.
In order to take the Artistic Entrance Examination you must submit the following documents:
- Completed Entrance Examination Application Form (provided with the application guidelines for download).
- Curriculum vitae in English.
- References (if applicable) such as publications, awards, work experience, recommendation letters, participation in film festivals, or
- Motivation statement in English (2 standard pages consisting of 2,300 characters including spaces).
- Project proposal in English outlining the applicant’s academic and artistic goal (3-5 standard pages consisting of 2,300 characters including spaces).
- Digital portfolio with 3-5 artistic work samples related to the field of Animation and Game Direction.
