Application Documents
CORE DOCUMENTS:
It is not possible to submit your online application without the following core documents:
- PDF scans of your diploma(s) and transcripts of academic records. If you still need to graduate at the time of your application, you are requested to upload PDF scans of your intermediate official transcripts through the web application portal. The Admissions Office reserves the right to ask for official or certified hard copies of transcripts (or diplomas) if required for the evaluation of the application.
- A PDF scan of the translation of your diploma(s) and official transcripts. If your documents are not in English, Dutch, French, or German, please arrange for these documents to be translated by a registered translator. These documents must also be certified by the educational institution that issued them or by a national authority.
- English Proficiency Certificate (see language requirements). The PDF scans of the TOEFL or IELTS certificates have to be uploaded in the web application. You should also request ETS or the British Council to make your test result available to KU Leuven in their online verification tool.
- PDF of the proof of payment of the application fee made either via bank transfer or via credit card.
- A PDF scan of the identity page of your passport (for EEA citizens: a PDF scan of your national ID card will also suffice).
- If you currently hold a Belgian Residence Permit, also upload PDF scans of both sides of the card in your application.
- PDF of your motivation letter (recommended size: one A4 page).
- PDF of your CV.
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS:
- At least two recommendation letters are requested (at least one of the referees has to come from the university of origin). The recommendation letters should not be uploaded via the web application but should be sent directly by the referee to the program email address. You can download the template for the recommendation letter here or use another free format where the aspects specified in the template are covered.
- Mainland Chinese citizens who do not hold a non-Chinese degree, need to submit an APS certificate when they apply for a Belgian visa.
Please note that successful applicants will have to present their original (university) diploma(s) to the Admissions Office prior to enrolment.
