Course Description

The double Master program is offered by TU Ilmenau (TUIL) and the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), one of the leading universities in Malaysia. The program is integrated into the existing Master programs of both universities. Please be aware that the program at TU Ilmenau is called "Biomedizinische Technik (M.Sc.)" and taught in German. Through participation in the double programs, above-average students will get the opportunity to gain international experience, especially in the exchange between Asian and European cultures. The Master thesis is jointly supervised and assessed by one supervisor from each university. For the German students, the bylaws can be found the Studienordnung. The participants are chosen by a joint commission consisting of members from both universities. The decision is based on the marks and the state of the preparation of the students. The credits are transferred according to the EU-ASEAN Credit Transfer System (EACTS). The transfer tables are part of the German bylaws: Master Prüfungsordnung für den Studiengang Biomedizinische Technik (MPO-BB). The graduates receive a Master of Engineering at UTM and a Master of Science (Biomedical Engineering) at TUIL. Each year, 4-5 places in the double degree program are available. Tuition fees are paid only at the home university (independent of the actual place of study). A financial support from funding agencies is possible.
