From Curiosity to Communication Engineering: Studying MSCSP
Course Description
The M.Sc. in Communication and Signal Processing at TU Ilmenau is a research-driven program that combines solid theoretical foundations with practical expertise in AI, communications, and signal processing. Students explore advanced topics like data analytics, machine learning, and array signal processing—core to applications such as autonomous systems, wearable tech, or medical imaging. Taught entirely in English and embedded in a collaborative research environment, the program equips graduates with specialized knowledge and interdisciplinary skills for a global career in R&D or academia.

The program is designed for graduates with a solid background in electrical engineering, communications, information or media technology, computer or biomedical engineering, or related disciplines such as mathematics or physics. It targets students passionate about signal processing, AI, and engineering research.
Special Program Features
Integrating AI into the Core of Engineering
The program uniquely integrates AI methods into signal processing and communication systems. Students gain domain-specific AI expertise—ranging from machine learning and big data analytics to tensor-based signal processing—preparing them for roles in intelligent systems design.
Two Degrees – One Exceptional Opportunity
Select students can obtain a second Master’s degree in Ingénierie des Systèmes Complexes from the Université de Lorraine in France. This double degree fosters intercultural exchange, opens doors to the European job market, and includes joint supervision of the Master’s thesis. → More Info
Where Cultures Meet and Engineers Grow
With students from more than 40 countries and all coursework taught in English, CSP offers a truly global academic environment. To support integration and boost employability in Germany, German language classes are recommended for those without prior knowledge. → More Info
