Course Description
Composition studies at the Barenboim-Said Akademie feature weekly private lessons and composition intensive courses taught by faculty members Jörg Widmann and Stephan Winkler.
As a composition student, you will be part of a department that will prepare you for a career in composition through intensive composition and theory training, electronic music training, performance practice, and conducting, amongst others. Composition students have works performed by other students of the Barenboim-Said Akademie and professional development possibilities through the Pierre Boulez Saal.

Qualification Requirements
Bachelor of music.
Required ECTS credits: 240.
If you obtained less than 240 ECTS in your previous studies, your period of study may be extended up to an additional year until you have accumulated the remaining ECTS required for the master of music degree confеrral.
Language Requirements
The following certificates are recognized as proof of your language proficiency.
Specification: B2 level of English at the time of matriculation, with the goal of achieving a C1 level within the first year of their studies.

- Personal Information: Full name, contact details, citizenship(s), address, and emergency contact information.
- Addresses and dates of study at high school and previous university (if applicable).
- Test of English as a foreign language (see language requirements).
- Responses to short essay questions.
- PDF copies of your most recent academic transcripts and certificates. Transcripts and certificates not in English or German must be submitted in the original language alongside an official, certified German or English translation.
- CV.
- Copy of passport.
- Biometric photo (51 x 51 mm - 2 x 2 inches).
- Screening Materials.
- Letter of recommendation.
