Qualification Requirements
Higher education entrance qualification.
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science or a similar field is required.
Minimum standard period of study: 6 semesters.
The degree must have:
- at least 20 credit points (LP) in the field of software engineering,
- at least 20 LP in the field of theoretical computer science,
- at least 15 LP in the field of technical computer science,
- at least 15 LP in the field of mathematical basics of computer science, and

The Examination Board decides on the requirements. If up to 30 credit points are missing, enrollment can be made with the condition that the requirements are made up for by appropriate studies in the context of up to three additional courses and that the relevant examinations are passed. The decision on this is made by the examination board. The exams should be completed within the first two semesters of the master’s degree. They are a prerequisite for participation in the modules of the relevant focus areas. They must be proven again when registering for the master's thesis.
The degree must have been awarded with an overall grade of at least 3.0.
GRE Revised General Test: A minimum of 157 points in the Quantitative Reasoning portion and a minimum of 4.0 points in the Analytical Writing portion of the GRE Revised General Test are usually required. Proof of the GRE Revised General Test is not required for a very good or good final grade (see GPA comment). Applicants with a German higher education entrance qualification are exempt from the requirement to prove their ability to study.
