Course Description
The M.Sc. in Economics at Osnabrück University offers students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of economic topics. There is only one mandatory component: the 10 ECTS module "Advanced Methods of Business and Economics". This offers students a high level of flexibility, enabling them to factor in their own interests and career plans. Moreover, students have the possibility to choose one of two majors: “Empirical Economics” or “Sustainability, Behavior & Environmental Policy”. Students also have the opportunity to study one semester abroad at a partner university.
Special Program Features
Specialization: Empirical Economics
Students choosing this specialization study and conduct research at the Institute for Empirical Economics, where they analyze issues of macroeconomics, international economic policy, statistics, and econometrics.
Specialization: Sustainability, Behavior and Environmental Policy
Students choosing this specialization learn how to analyze the interaction between environmental problems, human behavior, and economics to contribute to a more sustainable economy.

Qualification Requirements
The application requirements for the study program in “Economics” are:
Previous bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in:
- Economics
- Related disciplines
Minimum ECTS points required:
- 180*
*A suitable Bachelor’s degree must feature at least:
- 15 ECTS credit points from the field of Quantitative Methods in Economics, of which at least 8 ECTS credits in Statistics or Econometrics;
- 25 ECTS credits from the field of Economics
Applicants may apply to the program before completing their Bachelor´s degree if they provide proof that they have completed at least 150 credit points.

Application Procedure & Selection
€ 75 for the first application, € 30 for each addtional.
Application Documents
If possible, course descriptions should be submitted. The course descriptions are particularly important for applicants whose Bachelor's degree is not in core-economics.

- That a similar Master has not been failed, or the right to examination has not been lost.
