Application Documents
Applicants need to upload all documents to the application portal (do not send them via post).
The relevant bachelor's degree certificate, including a certified translation if it is not in German or English. Students who have not received their degree certificate prior to the application deadline may submit it upon receipt.
Academic transcripts of the relevant bachelor's program, including a certified translation if it is not in German or English. The transcript of records has to include the names of the courses and grades received.
An up-to-date and complete curriculum vitae (in English or German). The university does not require a specific format; if in doubt, applicants can use the Europass template.
These must be uploaded by your professors. You need to ask two of your academic teachers to provide a confidential letter of recommendation to the BGSE. Please ask your professors to preferably address the following two questions: Does the candidate belong to the top 5% or top 10% of his or her cohort (size of the cohort)? Is the candidate likely to perform well in a competitive, structured PhD program with high analytic content? Once you have completed your application, your professors will get an automatically generated email (this may take up to 24hrs) with some instructions and an upload link.
Score report is required if English is not your first language or if the language of instruction of your previous degree is not English (curriculum must have been taught exclusively in English).
Only for applicants with degrees from Chinese, Vietnamese, and Indian universities. Applicants who have both the original APS certificate and the Nachzertifizierung are required to submit both.
Good quantitative reasoning scores in the GRE test can improve the chances of being admitted, especially for candidates who received their degree from universities outside the EU. Applicants who want to have ETS send the GRE test scores directly to the university can use the following four-digit code: 7156 (University of Bonn, M.Sc. in Economics).
i.e. a list of the 10-15 most important books and articles used in your study program – you put the list together yourself, there is no form for it.
