Previous Degree
Bachelor's degree in English. Qualifications in bachelor’s degree programs with a major, minor, or teaching subject in English, American studies, or English and a reference to literary studies are recognized as equivalent. There is a link to literary studies if the student can demonstrate at least 10 CP or an examination in the field of literary studies. The decision on equivalence is made by the examination board.

Equivalent to one of the tests is proof of being a native speaker coming from Great Britain, North Ireland, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Malta; or having two years of full-time study in an English-taught program, undertaken within the past two years, in one of these countries: Great Britain, North Ireland, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or Malta; or having at least 5 school years of English in secondary education and at least 5 points in English at "Abitur" level (only Germany and Luxembourg).

- University Entrance Qualification (HZB) – in most cases the diploma from your secondary school.
