Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).
Minimum standard period of study: 6 semesters.
Performance requirements for teaching at a grammar school/comprehensive school:
- At least 67 CP in the subject-specific and subject-didactic modules in each of the two subjects.
- Of which at least 3 CP didactics in each of the two subjects.
- At least 24 CP in educational sciences including practical elements (aptitude and orientation as well as professional field internship). The content of the educational science modules must contain elements of the basic prerequisites for school learning as well as the principles, methods, and results of educational research.
- Of which at least 3 CP are for achievements on specific issues of the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs.
- The practical elements must include at least 9 weeks of internships, of which 25 days must have been completed at school (aptitude and orientation internship).
- Bachelor's thesis of at least 7 CP.
Performance requirements for teaching at vocational colleges:
- At least 95 CP in the technical and didactic modules of the major vocational subject and at least 39 CP in the minor vocational subject; You can find out which subjects you can continue as part of the master's degree in teaching here.
- At least 6 of the 95 credits in the major vocational subject didactics.
- At least 24 CP in educational sciences including practical elements (aptitude and orientation as well as professional field internship). The content of the educational science modules must contain elements about the basic requirements of school learning as well as the basics, methods, and results of educational research.
- Of which at least 3 CP are for achievements on specific issues of the inclusion of pupils with special educational needs.
- The practical elements must include at least 9 weeks of internships, of which 25 days must have been completed at school (aptitude and orientation internship).
- Bachelor's thesis of at least 7 CP.
If you have not yet completed your studies when you apply, then apply with the weighted average grade at the time of your application.
Your exams must then all be completed by September 30th at the latest. of the application year including submission of the bachelor thesis. At the beginning of the winter semester, no more work may be completed. However, the assessments of the exams may still be pending.
As long as your studies have not yet been completed, you will not be admitted to the master's examination, i.e. you cannot register for any examinations. You should therefore have your degree by the Christmas holidays. If you have to repeat an examination for the bachelor's degree, you must de-register from the master's degree, as you can only take the examination for the bachelor's degree. You will then have to reapply for the master's degree.
No minimum GPA.

If you have completed your first degree at another university at the time of application, you need for the online application:
- Your university certificate or, if you do not already have it, your transcript of records (certified or signed and stamped by the examination office).
- A transcript of records.
- If you have a university diploma from abroad, a certified German translation must be attached as well as a transcript of records, which must also be certified and translated into German. In this case, an application with only a transcript of records is not possible.
- The completed form Information about your studies. The information on the course refers to the entire course, regardless of which achievements are missing at the time of application. This information is used to check the extent to which your studies meet the admission requirements.
If your first degree at another university has not yet been completed by the time you apply, i.e. the last exams or the submission of the bachelor thesis are still pending at the end of the summer semester (or the winter semester if you are applying for the summer semester) or grades are still missing, you need the online -Application:
- Your current transcript of records/extract of performance/transcript of records ( certified or signed and stamped by the examination office).
- Your average grade. If the average grade is not automatically displayed on your transcript of records/grades/transcript of records, you must have this specified by your examination office. To do this, use the form attestation of the current performance level. The application is based on the current average grade, whereby changes in the average grade due to examinations taken later can no longer be taken into account.
- The completed form, information about your studies. The information about the course refers to the entire course, regardless of which achievements you are still missing at the time of application. This information is used to check the extent to which your degree meets the admission requirements.
