English proficiency can also be proven by CET (College English Test), GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), or CET (College English Test), or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), or LanguageCert International ESOL Qualifications, or by providing a German “Abitur” certificate (showing that the student attended English lessons without interruption until the end of qualification phase 1 – Year 11 in the case of the G8 “Abitur”, and Year 12 otherwise – and received minimum grades of “sufficient”), or by providing a transcript of records (e.g. from an earlier study program). The following people are exempt from providing English language certificates (subject to case-by-case review): holder of a German university entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachhochschulreife, etc. obtained either in Germany or at a German school abroad) with English as a graduating subject, or by proof of completed degree program conducted in English, or holders of a graduation certificate of a school in an English speaking country. German skills at the A1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference must be proved during the course of the study program and can be obtained parallel to it.
