Requirements
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, regional planning, or civil engineering. Professionals with bachelor's degrees in geography, sociology, environmental management, political science or economics and cultural studies, Arabic, African or Islamic studies with relevant professional experience will also be considered but should also provide proof of relevant professional experience in fields related to architecture, urban and development planning or infrastructure dеsign.

- Higher education entrance qualification (English or German).
- Bachelor's/master's degree (English).
- Transcript of records (English).
- English proficiency (see language requirements).
Please note: with the exception of proof of English proficiency the copies of these documents need to be officially authenticated/certified and translated into English. "Higher education entrance qualification" means your school-leaving certificate.

- Motivation, professional and academic experiences:
- Portfolio (English, no longer than 6 pages A4).
Please note: your portfolio must show besides a list of projects or a sample of work a description of your previous professional development. You should present student or professional projects relevant for the IUSD course content as a written description and (if available) graphic illustration of selected projects in terms of their content. To ensure equal treatment of all applicants, portfolios of more than 6 pages will not be considered. - Letter of motivation (English, no longer than 350 words).
Please note: recommended content for your motivation letter are: Why are you interested in this specific program? What special qualifications and skills did you gain through your previous academic career that are relevant to this program and that you can build on? What specific professional experience do you have that will contribute to the aims of this program? How do you hope to develop your career after receiving a master's degree? (In case you also apply for the IUSD Double Degree program, please indicate why you are interested in the contents of the program and its focus on Germany and Arab countries in the MENA region).
- Portfolio (English, no longer than 6 pages A4).
Submission.
Please upload a complete set of these files to the online application portal. You are only required to submit a complete hardcopy version of the required files if you receive an offer for a place on the MSc IUSD program. Please do not send any hard copies until you receive an offer. Offers are conditional on the timely submission of all hardcopy documents required for admission to the University of Stuttgart. It is advisable that candidates start preparing their documents in advancе.
