Qualification Requirements

Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with a visible connection to the field of water resources management. You have to prove the successful passing of a minimum of 15 ECTS of relevant study courses within your previous university study program.

Work Experience

Proof of practical experience/work experience within the field of Integrated Water Resources Management (not mandatory).

Additional information:
Native speakers as well as applicants with a certified Higher Education Entrance Qualification and a university degree (both acquired completely in English) will also be considered. TOEFL itp (institutional testing program) certificates will not be accepted. Test scores (or other proof of English language proficiency) must be no older than five years and are to be presented at the time of application.

  1. Curriculum vitae (in tabular form, English language).
  2. Graduation certificate.
  3. Academic record of university study.
  4. Proof of English proficiency (see language requirements).
  5. A letter of motivation explaining why you would like to study the master program (max. 500 words), explaining:
    1. Personal understanding of Integrated Water Resources Management (one sentence).
    2. Motivation to apply in relation to your previous experiences/education (one paragraph).
    3. Motivation to apply in relation to your future aspirations/preferred occupation in line with the specialization the IWRM program offers (one paragraph).
    4. Name three main benefits you expect to gain from the program (list).
    5. Name three main contributions you could make to the program (list).
    6. Five arguments of personal characteristics. Why you should be selected according to your view (list).
  6. A research idea related to the master program (2 pages):
    1. The subject and content of the research idea should be in line with the course content of the master program Integrated Water Resources Management.
    2. The subject must be of importance regarding the current scientific discussion.
    3. It should be written scientifically correct (e.g. structure, citation, data quality, sources, consistency).
