Five Reasons to choose this Master's Program

Course Description
This LL.M. unites international law and sustainability to prepare jurists to design fair, enforceable transitions. Based at Leuphana with a second year at one of four global partners, the program trains students to analyze, critique, and redesign legal frameworks across public, transnational private, and economic law so they can steer climate action, biodiversity protection, and social equity—without losing doctrinal rigor. Through research-led teaching and practice-oriented projects, participants learn to translate complex norms into workable policies and governance solutions. They build comparative insight across jurisdictions, gaining tools for litigation, negotiation, and regulation.

Designed for law graduates and early-career legal professionals who want to work at the intersection of international law and sustainability. It suits candidates aiming for roles in public institutions, NGOs, or globally active firms, and those seeking doctoral preparation. Strong English and analytic rigor are expected; interest in climate governance, human rights, ocean law, or responsible business is a plus.
