Requirements
Qualification Requirements
The prerequisite is an above-average degree (at least 2.5) in an artistically oriented university course with a minimum of three years of standard study time at a German or comparable foreign university, as well as good English language skills. We welcome applicants from the fields of interior design, architecture or other disciplines who are primarily concerned with the design of space. A variety of prior knowledge is an enrichment for our Master's program and creates diversity all participants can benefit from. Please see our instructions for registration as an interior architect in Germany (see FAQ on program/university websitеs).
As of winter semester 2022/23, proof of a subject-specific practical phase of at least 8 weeks in an office that focuses on interior design must be provided by the start of the courses in the first semester.
The languages of instruction at IMIAD are English and German. Only in the second semester is study entirely in English at a partner university. For this reason, each international student applicant must prove German language skills by means of a recognized language certificate. The language skills must at least correspond to DSH level 2 or TestDaF level 4. Further requirements for foreign applicants at HFT can be found on the program/university websitеs.
