Qualification Requirements
The application requirements for the study program in “Master in International Business” are:
Previous bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any field of study with an appropriate background in a business-related area.
Min ECTS required:
- 180 ECTS
It is possible to apply with your current transcript of records from your bachelor’s studies, should you not have received your bachelor’s degree yet.
At least 12 weeks which has to be completed in the business sector. The university recommends practical experience of 20 weeks (800 hours) which has to be completed in a business-related role.
You can submit internship certificates or a letter from HR, which includes your name, start and end date, your title, and a short description of your duties and responsibilities. The document should be issued on official company stationery, with a stamp and signature.
Language Requirements
The following certificates are recognised as proof of your language proficience.
Specification: A minimum score of 23 in speaking and writing.

Prepare a one-page CV in English.
Copy of your secondary education diploma and grade transcript, and certified translations of both (in case original documents are not in German or English).
Copy of your university diploma(s) and a detailed transcript of records including an overview of all courses taken during the Bachelor or equivalent undergraduate studies and during the exchange semester (please include the certified translations in case original documents are not in German or English).
If you have not finished your undergraduate studies yet, please provide a detailed transcript of records including an overview of all courses taken so far which shows grades achieved. Please also list the courses that you have to take in order to finish your undergraduate studies.
Applicants for the Master in Finance Program are required to prove excellent analytical and quantitative skills by May 31st. This can be demonstrated by a strong GMAT/GRE/TM-Base score. The Admissions Team may decide to waive the GMAT/GRE/TM-Base requirement upon review of your application. Candidates must first apply to the program, with all relevant supporting application documents, in order to be considered for a waiver.
- GMAT score of at least 600 or 555 GMAT Focus edition (WHU Code: FBR-FH-93)
- GRE of at least 158 Verbal and 158 Quantitative
- TM-BASE of at least 102 (must be completed in English. Please sign up for the test at the TM-BASE website).
Please note that the Admission Managers will prioritize complete applicants. Those who apply with all required documents, including GAMT/GRE/TM-BASE will be reviewed first. Applicants can apply for the program without the GMAT/GRE/TM-BASE; however, it is up to the Admission Managers to decide if they would like to proceed with the application without such scores. You would only receive a conditional study offer if you successfully complete the WHU Admissions Process without receiving a GMAT/GRE/TM-BASE. The offer would be unconditional upon submitting your required GMAT/GRE/TM-BASE official score.
Proof of internships/work placements stating the duration, position title, and responsibilities (If you are planning to complete the required period of internship between your application submission and the official enrolment at WHU, please submit a copy of the internship contract).
Missing practical experience can be completed by August 31, 2023.
A non-refundable fee of € 100 is charged for processing each application received by WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.
