Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a media-oriented degree, in which the basic content of media and communication studies, but also media production were the central subject; or a media-oriented degree that has dealt specifically with media and communication studies. Courses of study that include at least 60 credit points for obligatory basic competencies and/or course-specific competencies, for example, a fundamental scientific and practice-oriented examination of the mass media newspaper, magazine, photography, film, radio, television, computer and video games, and interactive network media, are considered to be closely related. A scientific and practice-oriented discussion covers the following subject areas: media theory, media analysis, media use, and media effects research as well as the creation of mass media content and applications (especially print media, radio, film, television, video and computer games, and digital network media).

If there are skills deficits, the missing skills must be made up. As a rule, a total of 300 credit points should be achieved by the successful completion of the master’s degree.
