Requirements
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a media-oriented degree, in which the basic content of media and communication studies, but also media production were the central subject; or a media-oriented degree that has dealt specifically with media and communication studies. Courses of study that include at least 60 credit points for obligatory basic competencies and/or course-specific competencies, for example, a fundamental scientific and practice-oriented examination of the mass media newspaper, magazine, photography, film, radio, television, computer and video games, and interactive network media, are considered to be closely related. A scientific and practice-oriented discussion covers the following subject areas: media theory, media analysis, media use, and media effects research as well as the creation of mass media content and applications (especially print media, radio, film, television, video and computer games, and digital network media).
If there are skills deficits, the missing skills must be made up. As a rule, a total of 300 credit points should be achieved by the successful completion of the master’s degree.
A minimum grade of 2.0 (good).

Application Documents
Documents to be submitted (single copy):
- Signed application to determine the access requirements of the online form.
- Proof of the above-mentioned university studies (bachelor’s certificate, performance overview with proven bachelor’s grade, etc.) or if the first university degree has not yet been completed: Proof that a maximum of 30 credit points of the credit points required for the bachelor’s degree are still outstanding with a proven preliminary average mark.
- Proof of knowledge of English (see language requirements).
- First university entrance qualification (Abitur, technical college entrance qualification, etc).
- Certificate of name change (e.g. marriage certificate).
- If already available, proof of sufficient German language skills for applicants without a German university entrance qualification and without a German university degree (enrollment requirement in the case of admission).
