Qualification Requirements


Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in the field of medical technology with a relevant thesis. Applicants who do not have a degree in the above sense, but who have completed professional university studies (usually bachelor) from an engineering or natural science course related to medical technology, e.g. technically oriented physiotherapy, optometry, biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, applied physics, physical technology, nuclear technology, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, microsystem technology, industrial mathematics, computer science, process engineering or comparable courses of study must prove their specialist knowledge in medical technology for approval.

Minimum standard period of study: 6 semesters.
Required ECTS credits: 180.

The access committee decides on the comparability and the technical suitability of similar courses and the scope of the course. It also assesses the comparability of the scope and grade of the professional qualification.

Additional information:
English language proficiency can also be proven by a German Abitur or Fach-Abitur with a minimum mark of 3 (befriedigend) in English, or if English is your native language, which is only valid if you have attended at least 4 years of secondary school in one of the following countries and enclose a school certificate showing your grades for the entire period of enrolment: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America. Applicants from Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Nepal, and Pakistan must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores, even if your complete education was in English. If you were admitted, the German embassy will not give you a visa if you do not have a current TOEFL or IELTS score sheet. German language proficiency is proven if German is your native language, or if you graduated from a German-language degree programme at (at least) bachelor's level.
