Things to love about Marburg
Course Description
The Philipps-Universität Marburg provides a comprehensive Molecular Biotechnology Master's program for international students. This program covers the latest techniques and applications, preparing international students for careers in fundamental and applied biotech research, development, and commercialization. Taught by field experts, the curriculum includes gene editing, recombinant DNA technology, protein engineering, and synthetic biology, addressing global challenges in climate control, healthcare, food production, and energy.
International students benefit from hands-on research opportunities, industry collaborations, and internships with top biotech companies. Upon graduation, students possess a strong understanding of ethical and regulatory aspects, along with skills in theory and lab practice for success in the evolving biotech field.
The MSc Molecular Biotechnology program spans four semesters.
- Preceding the semester, an information session guides module selection. The winter semester initiates with Orientation Week, integrating an inviting event by the Biology Student Council.
- The first semester is designed to provide you with a strong theoretical background in the fundamentals of molecular biotechnology. At the same time, workshops designed for small groups of students will develop expert technical skills in bioanalytics, cell engineering, and computational biology.
- In the second semester, students also explore process engineering in biotechnology through both practical and theoretical approaches. The MAFEX-Team will also impart essential knowledge on start-up entrepreneurship, preparing you for success in the dynamic world of innovation.
- In the third semester, seize the opportunity to refine your expertise as a cell and biological molecule engineer through internships at research labs, including those at the university and the Max-Planck Institute of Terrestrial Microbiology. Interested in pursuing internships abroad or in industrial settings? Dedicated university group leaders will provide assistance in securing these opportunities.
