Petroleum Enginееring

The M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering is taught at the Institute of Petroleum Engineering of the Clausthal University of Technology. According to the University, the program can be described as follows:

The international master's program Petroleum Engineering has been reaccredited recently, with a new refreshed structure and new contents while maintaining the core of proven and well-established subsurface and petroleum-related aspects. The new semester will start in October 2022 with a freshly redesigned frame, enabling flexibility and freedom of choice among several optional up-to-date courses inside an interdisciplinary, integrated program.
The modernized study program provides a unique combination of the different disciplines typical to petroleum engineering, engaging the knowledge of industry standards and innovative R&D-focused courses.
As a special highlight, a group project course is included where the students gain hands-on experience working within an interdisciplinary team. The newly designed lectures comply with the current standards, including conventional petroleum engineering subjects and automation and monitoring in subsurface engineering. The integrated geothermal module offers a great blend in all the study directions. Students can learn the fundamentals of geothermal engineering independently from their major study direction, whether that be Reservoir or Production and Drilling Technologies. Our goal is to continue improving the PE education quality to form future engineers to become leaders and great scientists in modern subsurface energy systems.
