Designing Technology, Understanding Society
Your Master's at TUM!
Course Description
The M.A. Responsibility in Science, Engineering and Technology (RESET) at TUM prepares you to shape technological futures responsibly. You explore how innovation affects society—and how society can guide innovation—across fields such as AI, sustainability, biomedicine, and digitalization. Combining social sciences, humanities, and STEM perspectives, RESET equips you to critically assess ethical, political, economic, and legal dimensions of technoscience. You learn to navigate complexity, mediate between disciplines, and actively contribute to responsible research and innovation in a global context. RESET students build a strong interdisciplinary foundation in fields such as Science and Technology Studies (STS), public policy, innovation studies, economics, law, media studies and ethics, equipping them to critically engage with STEM fields through a responsibility-oriented lens.

RESET is designed for motivated students with backgrounds in STEM, social sciences, humanities, economics, law, or life sciences who want to engage with technology beyond purely technical perspectives. You are curious about societal challenges, enjoy interdisciplinary dialogue, and aim to connect research, policy, and practice.
