Course description

IFS describes the program as follows: "The MA Serial Storytelling at the ifs internationale filmschule köln is Europe’s first and only master’s program focusing on collaborative writing for series. Focusing on both local and international series markets, this intensive two-year degree program combines story development skills, collaboration techniques (»Writers’ Room«), and the innovative approach of artistic research."


Qualification Requirements

Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent).

Required ECTS credits: 180.

The program is aimed at talented and passionate filmmakers and media professionals who wish to work in a team of authors in order to achieve the best creative result. The ifs also welcomes talented applicants who have received degrees in unrelated fields.

Work Experience

Must have worked in the field of media production for at least 1 year.

Additional Qualification

The MA Serial Storyelling admits new students every other year for the winter semester. Admission is structured as a two-step process starting with written documents (first round) followed by interviews and writing tasks for shortlisted applicants (second round).

Additional information:
Native English speakers are exempted from this, as well as applicants holding an English high-school diploma or an English academic degree In addition, all applicants have to demonstrate the appropriate level of English during the selection process (interviews and writing assignments).
