Application Documents
It is not possible to submit your online application without the following core documents:
- PDF scans of your diploma(s) and transcripts of academic records: If you still need to graduate at the time of your application, you are requested to upload PDF scans of your intermediate official transcripts through the web application portal. The Admissions Office reserves the right to ask for official or certified hard copies of transcripts (or diplomas) if required for the evaluation of the application.
- A PDF scan of the translation of your diploma(s) and official transcripts: If your documents are not in English, Dutch, French or German, please arrange for these documents to be translated by a registered translator. These documents must also be certified by the educational institution that issued them or by a national authority.
- English proficiency certificate: see language requirements.
- PDF of the proof of payment of the application fee made either via bank transfer or via credit card.
- A PDF scan of the identity page of your passport (for EEA citizens: a PDF scan of your national ID card will also suffice).
- PDF of your motivation letter (recommended size: one A4 page).
- PDF of your CV.
The application procedure includes proper submission of the core documents and additional documents. At least two recommendation letters are requested (at least one of the referees has to come from the university of origin). The recommendation letters should not be uploaded via the web application but should be sent directly by the referee to the program email address. You can use the template for the recommendation letter provided by the university or use another free format where the aspects specified in the template are covered.
- Mainland Chinese citizens who do not hold a non-Chinese degree, need to submit an APS certificate when they apply for a Belgian visa.
- Applicants who intend to come to KU Leuven with an external scholarship are requested to upload any proof or attestation of such scholarship from the granting institution or organisation.
- If the description of the grading system of your home university is not included in the PDF scan of your transcripts of academic records, please provide the grading table, or a document explaining the grading system of your home university (this can sometimes be found on the backside of a transcript, or on the diploma supplement). You can upload this document under document type “others&rdquο;.
