Primatology NC-free

Primatology Programs in Germany without Admission Restriction / NC-Free (2026/27)

Overview Deadlines

Primatology is the scientific study of primates—the order of animals that includes monkeys, apes, and humans themselves—and thus offers unique insights into our own evolutionary history and nature. Students of this subject study the behavior, social structures, communication, cognition, and ecology of our closest relatives, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of what makes us human and how certain behaviors have developed. Primatology combines biology, zoology, psychology, and anthropology into an interdisciplinary field of research that includes fieldwork in tropical rainforests as well as laboratory research and behavioral experiments.
