Study Painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg (2026/27)
Founded in 1662, the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg is the oldest art academy in the German-speaking world and offers around 300 students an intimate and creative environment in the vibrant city of Nuremberg, Bavaria. It provides Bachelorâs and Masterâs programs in Fine Art, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Graphic Design/Visual Communication, Art Education, and Performative Practices, with a strong emphasis on individual artistic development and interdisciplinary collaboration supported by small class sizes and close mentoring from experienced professors. For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
