It was founded in 2009 by CEO Ilona Renken-Olthoff and is a family-run institution. The university has two main locations: its headquarters in the historic Siemens Villa in Berlin-Steglitz and a second campus in Hamburg's HafenCity, established in November 2013. BSP offers a range of bachelor's, master's and state examination programmes in three faculties: Business and Management, Creative Business and Law.

The university prides itself on offering a market-oriented, interdisciplinary education with a strong practical focus.
