About the University

The Freie Hochschule Stuttgart offers courses of study for the different pedagogical professions of the Waldorf Schools. Since the state recognition as a scientific university in 1999, the courses have been recognized in all German federal states and at foreign schools. The university is located on a common site with the Freie Waldorfschule Uhlandshöhe in Stuttgart and offers a lively exchange for students due to its proximity to other educational institutions.

Study and continuing education opportunities
The Freie Hochschule Stuttgart offers six Bachelor's and Master's degree programs as well as various continuing education programs. With the Bachelor's program "Waldorf Education" (B.A., 3 years) you can work as a class helper and in all-day schools at Waldorf Schools. The Master's program "Class and Subject Teacher at Waldorf Schools" (M.A., 1.5 - 2 years) is offered consecutively or postgraduate. The Master's program "Oberstufenlehrer/in" (M.A., 1.5 years) is offered to academics studying a school-relevant subject. Furthermore, the Freie Hochschule Stuttgart offers a Bachelor's degree in "Eurythmy with basic pedagogical qualification" (B.A., 4 years). Subsequently, the Master's degree in "Eurythmy Education" (M.A., 1 year) can be achieved. In addition, certified two-year professional further training measures are offered to become a specialist teacher for foreign languages, horticulture, needlework, music, gymnastics/sports, and works.

Research mission
The Freie Hochschule Stuttgart focuses its research on pedagogical anthropology and Waldorf education. Particularly in the context of research-based teacher training for Waldorf Schools, topics are dealt with that are oriented towards educational discourse with special consideration of anthropological, epistemological, aesthetic, salutogenic or methodological-didactic questions.
