strong region offers numerous opportunities. The Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe (TH OWL) has
excellent networks with the economy and research institutions and cooperates with various universities
worldwide.

TH OWL's main goal is to tackle complex problems and global challenges and work to ensure that knowledge and
innovations benefit society. We provide education and research in engineering, economics and management, life
science technologies, design and construction. Almost 6,200 students, 173 professors and 580 employees are
based at our campuses in Lemgo, Detmold, and Höxter.

Study programs at Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences prepare students for the world of work. At
TH OWL, scientific knowledge and methods are conveyed and applied in the numerous well equipped labs and
institutes. Thanks to our close cooperation with industry, it is commonplace for our students to carry out work
placements and prepare theses in companies. Studies are rounded off by practical semesters.

At the TH OWL, research is carried out in various fields, but especially in the field of industrial automation
technology and food safety. The Institute Industrial IT (inIT) carries out research in the field of industrial
informatics and industrial automation for cyber-physical systems. The InIT is located in a science to business
center (Centrum Industrial IT - CIIT) on the Innovation Campus Lemgo. More than 350 experts from companies and
research institutions work under one roof. CIIT, together with the university institute inIT and the Fraunhofer
IOSB-INA, forms one of the three regional centres of the leading edge technology cluster "Intelligent Technical
Systems Ostwestfalen-Lippe (it's OWL)". Together with the Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, the TH OWL is operating the
SmartFactoryOWL research factory on Innovation Campus Lemgo since 2016. The aim of the facility is to establish
a manufacturer-independent real-world production environment as a research and demonstration platform.

The excellent contact to the local industry and businesses is the basis for innovative study programs and successful
research collaborations. Thanks to the excellent education of our graduates and the close cooperation, TH OWL
has become an essential and indispensable part of the economic region.
