The Technische Universität Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig, commonly known as TU Braunschweig, is one of the oldest technical universities in Germany. Founded in 1745 as Collegium Carolinum, it was later renamed Polytechnische Schule in 1862 and received its current name in 1968.  TU Braunschweig is a public university with a long tradition that has approximately 20,000 students as of 2021.
