Course Description
A minor in Arabic is required for the Islamic Studies/Arabic Studies profiles within an Asian Studies major. This minor equips students with a solid foundation in both spoken and written Arabic. The primary focus is on modern standard Arabic, with significant emphasis on developing reading skills for source texts, as well as auditory, oral, and written proficiency.
Students learn the fundamentals of Arabic necessary for the scientific analysis of texts in various contexts. These skills enable them to communicate effectively and meet academic and language standards, including in the foreign language. Key components of Arabic studies include learning the Arabic script, essential grammar, basic modern standard Arabic vocabulary, and elementary oral and written skills for text reception and production (reading, writing, listening, speaking). Additionally, students are introduced to at least one main Arabic dialect.
This subject must be combined with a second subject. For more information on degree program combinations, click visit the university websites.
