Five Reasons to choose this Bachelor's Program

Course Description
The future of industry depends on materials and processes designed in harmony with the planet. TUM's Bachelor in Sustainable Engineering for Materials and Processes gives you the scientific and engineering toolkit to make that vision real. At TUM Campus Straubing — a dedicated hub for biotechnology and sustainability — this English-taught program fuses materials science, process engineering, and chemistry with circular economy thinking. Choose between two tracks: sustainable materials development or resource-efficient process design. Hands-on lab work, a research internship, and a thesis developed with industry or research partners ensure you graduate ready to shape a greener industrial landscape.

This program suits you if you hold a university entrance qualification and have strong interests in engineering, chemistry, or materials science paired with a commitment to sustainability. You enjoy solving technical challenges and want to help make industrial materials and production more resource-efficient. A solid STEM foundation is expected; professional experience is not required.
Special Program Features
Built-In Research Internship
An integrated research internship gives you hands-on experience in academic labs or industry early on, connecting classroom theory with the demands of real-world professional practice.
Broad Elective Freedom
A generous selection of technical and interdisciplinary electives lets you craft a unique academic profile — from advanced chemistry to bioeconomy, data science, or management.
Thesis Tied to Real Challenges
Your Bachelor's thesis tackles a genuine engineering problem, often developed with industry or research partners, lending your final project immediate professional significance.
