Halberstadt: Master programs with Admission Restriction — Numerus Clausus/NC (2026/27)

Halberstadt offers international students a distinctive educational experience at the local campus of Harz University of Applied Sciences (Hochschule Harz), specialising in tourism management, public administration, and automation technology—fields where the intimate learning environment, small class sizes, and close relationships with professors create genuine mentorship and personalised skill development that larger institutions struggle to provide. This historic city in Saxony-Anhalt carries extraordinary cultural significance: the magnificent medieval cathedral houses one of Europe's most important treasury collections, with textiles, tapestries, and religious artefacts dating back over a thousand years, while the city itself presents a fascinating blend of painstakingly restored half-timbered houses and ongoing urban renewal that tells the story of eastern Germany's transformation since reunification. Students encounter unique cultural experiences found nowhere else, including the John Cage Organ Project—a performance of a single composition designed to last 639 years, with note changes drawing visitors from around the world to witness moments in this extraordinary artistic experiment. The university's connections to regional tourism initiatives and technical industries create practical learning opportunities rooted in authentic eastern German context, while living costs rank among the lowest of any German university town, allowing students to live comfortably on modest budgets.
