Mainz: List of all State Exam programs (2026/27)

Mainz offers international students a vibrant and welcoming environment at Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU), one of Germany’s largest and most renowned universities, named after the city’s famous son who invented movable-type printing. This Rhine city combines a rich history with a youthful energy, creating the perfect backdrop for academic life. JGU is particularly strong in physics, chemistry, and life sciences, while Mainz itself is known as a hub for pharmaceutical research, media, and broadcasting. Nearly one in five residents is a student, making Mainz a true university city where international students benefit from comprehensive support services, an inclusive atmosphere, and the characteristic Rhineland warmth and humor.
