The Bachelor of Arts in Tibetan Studies at the University of Bonn offers an in-depth exploration of the history, culture, and language of the Tibetan-speaking cultural areas. This includes modern Tibet within the People's Republic of China and related regions such as Baltistan (Pakistan), Ladakh, Spiti, Lahul, Kinnaur, Sikkim (India), Bhutan, and parts of Nepal.

Students will gain a solid foundation in the historical and cultural contexts of the Tibetan cultural sphere. They will also be trained to translate and study textual sources independently, enabling them to conduct research on Tibetan history, religion, politics, art, and literature.

Students are encouraged to participate in regular "Tibet Colloquiums" organized by the department, where Tibetologists present their current research projects.
