The master's degree program in Business Information Systems is part of a consecutive offer with a national alignment and is based on the bachelor's degree program of business information systems in content and structure.

The degree program is characterized by a specialization of advanced subject areas from the bachelor's degree program and also shows a strong research orientation. The target of the master's degree program is to give the graduates the current computer science and business administration concepts and solution approaches as well as the necessary knowledge of IT tools and their use in organizations.

The master's degree program is based on the three pillars of business information systems: Business information systems, computer science, and economics (incl. economic law). In the area of business information systems, there is a broad offer of courses available. Available modules include computer-supported group work, operational business information systems, IT security, decision-supporting systems, and human-computer interaction. The elective modules of computer science cover specialization subjects of practical and applied computer science. For example, offers on operating systems databases and computer architectures are available. The third pillar of economics comprises areas from media management, economics, business administration, and law.

In addition to a general research orientation, the master's degree program is also targeted at practical training that enables the graduates to work both on the user and the developer sides - or in a mediator's role - in the area of operational information processing. Graduates work as information managers, system analysts, software developers, or database specialists. They are also in demand in operational function areas such as marketing, production, or material management.
