Master the Signals that Move the World
Course Description
Step into a Master's program that places sensor technology — a key technology powering nearly every engineering discipline — at the heart of your learning experience. The Analytical Instruments, Measurement and Sensor Technology (AIMS) program at Coburg University of Applied Sciences is the only specialization of its kind offered in Germany. Taught entirely in English with no German required, AIMS combines in-depth coursework in sensor technology, measurement, and data analysis with an integrated semester abroad in Italy or China. You graduate with a Master of Engineering and the international toolkit to drive innovation across high-tech industries.

AIMS is designed for ambitious engineering and natural-sciences graduates holding a bachelor's degree of above-average standing plus at least one year of professional experience. You bring proven English proficiency and a passion for measurement, sensing, and instrumental analytics. The program suits internationally minded students who value technical depth alongside hands-on global experience.
Special Program Features
Built-in language and intercultural training
Earn ECTS credits through German, Chinese, or Italian language courses paired with intercultural soft skills, equipping you to thrive in genuinely cross-border workplaces.
Personal attention, small cohorts
At Coburg you won't need binoculars to see your professor — small cohorts and a hands-on faculty give you direct contact and personalized academic guidance every semester.
Build a real race car with CAT-Racing
Join the student-run CAT-Racing team, designing and building a Formula Student race car each year — a hands-on engineering playground that goes far beyond regular lectures. → More Info

Testimonials
This unique program offers the wonderful possibility to get a glimpse of cultures and languages of two very different countries. And it equips me with the skills companies ask for today. So I will be able to compete on the global job market.
To be a student in this study program not only means to get acquainted with the latest innovations in sensor technology but also to learn how to work in a team, companionship and friendship crossing the borders of nationality.
For me, one of the big gains of the AIMS program was the hands-on laboratory experience, which took place every week throughout the course of study. The mandatory internship at a German company was another benefit of the program. Added to that, AIMS also helped me to develop an international outlook by spending one semester in Shanghai. With this know-how, it was easy for me to start my career as an engineer in a multinational company here in Germany.
