Applied Environmental Geoscienсе

To complete the Master's program, students must accumulate 120 credit points, distributed across compulsory modules, elective modules, and a Master's thesis.

Compulsory Modules 

• Environmental Chemistry: Focuses on chemical thermodynamics in aqueous systems, sorption and partitioning processes, and practical case studies to predict chemical fate and behavior in the environment.
• Global Change: Establishes a quantitative understanding of global-change processes, covering past and present climatic systems, climate change models, and impacts on environmental systems.
• Groundwater Modeling 1: Introduces quantitative subsurface hydrology principles, including groundwater flow calculations and computer modeling techniques.
• Scientific Practice: Formulates research agendas for the Master's thesis.
• Scientific Presentation: Includes poster and oral presentations, workshop participation, and seminar attendance.

Each specialization (Hydrogeology, Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Microbiology, or Environmental Physics) requires three core elective modules:

1. Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Microbiology: Biotransformation of Pollutants, Environmental Analytical Chemistry, and Hydrogeochemical Modeling.
2. Environmental Physics: Atmospheric Physics, Climate Dynamics, and Physics of the Earth’s Surface.
3. Hydrogeology: Groundwater Modeling 2, Hydrogeological Field Investigation Techniques, and Remediation of Contaminated Sites.

Additional elective modules, totaling forty-two credits, can be chosen from available options or approved by the examination board chairperson based on relevance to the program's content and objectives.
