Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and information technology, Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, and Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Dortmund, or another comparable degree in a course of study provided that the Examination Committee has determined that there are no significant differences to the degrees mentioned.
Minimum standard period of study: 6 semesters.
Required ECTS credis: 180.
Comparability of the course of study is generally given if the course of study has the following subject-specific content:
- at least 18 credit points in the field of mathematics (linear algebra/Analysis), and
- at least 12 credit points in the field of Computer Science/Prοgramming.
A course-related aptitude can be attested by a bachelor’s degree graded at least “good&rdquο; (2,0).

Application Documents
- Academic degree certificate. This includes notarized copies of the original and an official transcript in German or English language, furnished by an official translator if the certificate originals are neither in English nor German. The requested degree must be 2.0 or better on the German scale.
- Your mark sheets of all terms and other records of your academic education in undergraduate studies. These mark sheets must include the grades as well as the credit points collected. Each topic should be clearly identified. This includes notarized copies of the original and an official transcript in German or English language, furnished by an official translator if the certificate originals are neither in English nor German.
- An explanation of your grading system is required if pass and maximum marks statements are not an integral part of your transcripts. In many cases, the latter is conveyed on the backside of transcripts. So please send both sides in such a case.
- Applicants from China, Vietnam, and India will need an APS certificate as a mandatory prerequisite.
- English language certificate (see language requirements).
- Proof that your curriculum has covered (in general will be derived from your transcripts and does not require a specific document, and it will be checked for your performance, which means you must have passed these classes at a minimum level of "C" or 65% or whatever is appropriate in your grading scheme):
- at least 10% of marks gained in academic math,
- at least 6.7% of marks gained in computer systems/programming (no matlab or application level) courses. (make sure to send your most up-to-date transcript, including an indication of the workload per class, e.g. hours/week, credit points, etc.).
- A motivation letter should be uploaded as a PDF via Uni-Assist.
