Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in the subject areas of Engineering Science, Environmental & Resource Technology, Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Information System Technology, Chemistry, or Physics at the University of Bayreuth.
Basic knowledge of mathematics and physics is mandatory. Basic knowledge of general chemistry is required.
Applications may already be submitted before completion of the bachelor's degree; however, a total of at least 150 credits are required by the time of application.
Admission subject to conditions is possible, conditions may comprise a maximum of 20 ECTS points.
Language Requirements
The following certificates are recognised as proof of your language proficience.
Specification: Applicants can submit it by the end of the second semester at the latest.

Application Documents
For EU applicants:
- An additional questionnaire concerning the number of semester hours (per week and subject) - this will be available as an Excel sheet on CAMPUSonline.
- Curriculum vitae: Please download and fill out the template provided on the course application page.
- English language certificate (see language requirements).
- German language certificate.
- List of modules for which no evidence of performance exists yet.
- Module handbook for your bachelor's degree program in German or English.
- Secondary school leaving certificate including subjects and grades, in original language + certified translation in German or English.
- Bachelor's degree transcript of records (or for comparable degree) including subjects and grades - at least 150 ECTS points, in original language + certified translation in German or English.
- Bachelor's degree grading scale with the maximum grade and the minimum final grade required to be awarded the degree – not for passing individual courses (must be issued by your university), in original language + certified translation in German or English.
- Written presentation of course-specific competencies (motivation letter).
For non-EU applicants:
- Preliminary review documentation uni-assist for the University of Bayreuth: For this master’s program international applicants from outside the EU who have obtained their degree abroad must apply via uni-assist and undergo a fee-based special procedure: preliminary review documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation [VPD]).
Please keep in mind that due to uni-assist’s processing time, it may take 6-8 weeks for your preliminary documentation review to be issued.
