Qualification Requirements

Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree in economics or business administration and, thus, has acquired extensive prior knowledge in this field. Degrees in related subjects might be considered if you have acquired at least 90 ECTS credits from economic or quantitative methods courses. 90 ECTS are equivalent to the workload of 3 semesters of a three-year program. Applicants with fewer credits cannot be considered.

Minimum standard period of study: 6 semesters.

Additional master's degrees cannot be considered in the selection process. In addition, it is not possible to meet the 90 ECTS requirement through a combination of two bachelor's programs.

If you have not yet obtained a final bachelor's degree, you can apply if you have completed at least 80% of the coursework required in your bachelor's prοgram.

Does the university recognize "other equivalent language certificates"? yes

Additional information:
English language knowledge can also be proven by a bachelor's studies entirely in English (proof on your transcript or a document from your examination office stating that the language of instruction was English), an English language course at your university explicitly stating a level of B2 (participation and performance record), or an explicit note on your university entrance qualification (Abiturzeugnis, A-level degree) that your language proficiency is on the B2 level. Language certificates can have a maximum of five years old. GMAT/GRE tests are no English proficiency tests. German language knowledge can also be proven by a DSH from a different institute of higher education/universities with a minimum level of DSH-2 (Please note: DSH certificates received after 1st January 2013 are only recognized if they are registered by the "Hochschulrektorenkonferenz" (HRK – Standing Conference of Rectors at German universities) in accordance with the new framework regulations for German, a KDS and GDS (Kleines/Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom – small/big German language certificate), ZOP (Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung), a certification granting you the ability to study at an institute of higher education in a German-speaking country (e.g. Austria), or a German Reifezeugnis (certification of eligibility for university entrance).

Application Documents

The following documents are required for your application for the Master of Science in Betriebswirtschaftslehre (Business Administration):

  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Proof of German and English proficiency (see language requirements).
  3. Curriculum Vitae.
  4. Copy of Abitur Certificate (or Equivalent High School Diploma): a simple copy of your Abitur certificate or equivalent (e.g. A-level certificate). This document proves that you have completed your secondary education and are allowed to study at a university in general.
  5. APS Certificate for Applicants from Vietnam, China, and Mongolia: applicants from the People's Republic of China, Vietnam, and Mongolia need to submit an APS certificatе.
