Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in civil engineering, mechanical engineering or comparable programs, such as aerospace engineering, applied or structural mechanics, structural engineering, engineering mechanics, mechanical engineering and automation, mechatronics engineering, naval architecture and marine engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering and production.

Please note that applications with a degree from the following fields will be rejected: informatics, information technology, electrical engineering, communication engineering, or chemical engineеring.

Additional information:
Proof of very basic German knowledge (if your language of instruction was not German in your previous education) is also required. This proof can be a certificate of any German course (any level) of the Goethe Institute or another language school (including your home university). If you cannot prove basic German knowledge during your application, you have to complete a basic German course at the university during your first two semesters.

Application Documents


During the online application process you will be asked to provide your personal information and upload the following documents:

  1. A copy of your academic record (listing your subjects and grades), including information about your universities' grading system and translation.
  2. Proof of your English language proficiency (see language requirements).
  3. Optional: A proof of very basic German knowledge (see language requirements).
  4. Applicants with a degree from an Indian university have to submit their recent GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) results of papers.
  5. Applicants with a degree from a Vietnamese, Chinese or Mongolian university have to submit a valid APS certificate.
  6. If your bachelor's degree was issued in a country that is not part of the EU/EEA/EFTA signatory nations: preliminary review documentation (VPD) by uni-assist (see above).
  7. A personal statement - letter of motivation (why would you like to take part in the COME program?).
  8. curriculum vitae (CV).
  9. Optional/if possible: a ranking list, i.e. a statement (certified by your university) that you, for example, completed your bachelor as the 3rd best student among 50 other graduates in your term.
  10. At least one letter of reference: please use the appropriate form. Please fill in your name, sign the form, and give this form to a professor or other person who is well acquainted with your academic work (no job reference). The form consists out of two pages: on the first page the recommender is asked for a ranking of the student, the second is the letter itself. The recommender also can use the own institutional letter paper to write the recommendation letter. Upload the filled out form and the letter.
  11. A copy of your passport (no authentification required).

After having completed the online application you will be provided with an application form. Print out this form, sign it and upload it. The application for admission is only valid if it has been uploaded with your signaturе.
