Previous Degree
Bachelor's degree in forestry or environmental sciences or a related field.
For the International Forestry major, applicants must have at least:
30 ECTS in natural sciences and ecology.
10 ECTS in statistics and geomatics.
30 ECTS in forestry & natural resources management.
For the Forest Ecology Research major, applicants must have at least:
55 ECTS in natural sciences and ecology.
Proof of floristic and faunistic species knowledge.
Population ecology.
15 ECTS in statistics and geomatiсs.
GPA (German System) 2.50
GPA Comment
A grade average of at least 2.5 (German gradе).

Completion of an English-language undergraduate degree program from a country that is genuinely anglophone (USA, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand), completion of an English-language undergraduate degree program and an English-language Master's degree program from a country that is not genuinely anglophone (e.g. Syria) (official confirmation from the examinations office, the dean's office or the program coordinator or indication of "medium of instruction: English" on the ToR or in the Diploma Supplement), completion of an undergraduate degree program in English Studies or Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Freiburg, completion of an English-language Master's degree from a country that is genuinely anglophone (USA, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand), nationality from a country where the official language is English (e.g. Nigeria), IB Diploma (Anglophone Section) from an Anglophone school, German and Luxembourgish Abitur - information on the Abitur certificate about the language level achieved in English according to the CEFR (as a rule, grade in English as an examination subject > 12.5 as well as explicitly stated level as C1 [Note: B2/C1 means language level "B2 and in parts C1" and cannot be recognized as C1]), or English as mother tongue can also be accepted as proof. Language certificates must be uploaded within he application deadline.
