Course Description
Do you have a bachelor's degree and at least one year of practical experience in the media field after obtaining your degree, and are highly motivated to gain research and practical experience? Then this is a unique opportunity for you! The M.A. in International Media Studies is a program developed from a cooperation between DW Akademie, Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, and the University of Bonn. It is a well accredited academic program with an excellent, strongly research-oriented curriculum which at the same time features a focus on practical experience. Moreover, selected students from developing and emerging countries can access a full scholarship to cover all their program expenses (tuition, living costs, accommodation, etc.).

Learn about current media industry problems
Due to the practical focus of this program, students deal with relevant issues in the media industry during practical modules and research projects and learn how to handle them in real life.
Take part in interesting modules
Students complete a variety of modules with relevant topics such as media & development, media economics, politics & society, communication sciences, and media management, among others.
Study between beautiful Sankt Augustin and multicultural Bonn
Sankt Augustin is a charming city perfect for student life, but also enjoys easy access to Bonn, an important hub of the media industry in Germany, where DW (Deutsche Welle) is located.

The application requirements for the study program in “International Mеdia Studiеs” are:
Previous bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
At least one year of professional experience in a media-related field acquired after the completion of the student’s first degree.
If you have been working as a self-employed freelancer, you can submit a certificate or recommendation from your employer(s) if applicable, and/or links to your publications and project wοrk.

Proof of at least one year's professional experience in a media-related field AFTER obtaining your first academic degree (for a scholarship you must provide proof of at least two years of professional experience). You can submit a certificate or letter from your employer as proof of work experience. Please make sure it includes your media-related job title, the beginning and end dates of your employment in that position, company letterhead, date of issue of the certificate/letter and a signature from your employer.
